‘Proposed Academy Conversion’

21st September 2017

PROPOSAL TO CONVERT GRAFHAM GRANGE SCHOOL TO ACADEMY STATUS IN JANUARY 2018

As recently advised to staff and parents, the Trustees of RADIUS Trust have been considering the potential of converting all the RADIUS Schools, inc. Grafham Grange, from a Non-Maintained Special School to Academy status.  Because of this change, we believe the School will see the benefits of joining a Multi Academy Trust, funded by the government.  To this end, after careful consideration, Trustees have made a unanimous decision to seek to become part of the Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (OHCAT).

We believe this would be the best outcome Grafham Grange could hope for as it will secure the best educational outcomes for all of our children.

We have now reached the point that we need to seek the views of the local community, parents, pupils and staff on this proposal.  We will be running a consultation process from 25th September 2017 to 3rd November 2017 to both help you understand what is being proposed and to gather your views.

Meetings are scheduled which will consist of a brief explanation about what academy status would mean for Grafham Grange, followed by a question and answer session.  Representatives from the school's Governing Body and OHCAT will also be in attendance. The details of the meetings are as follows :

  • Monday 9th October at 3.30pm for members of staff
  • Monday 9th October at 6pm for parents and members of the community
  • Monday 16th October between 3.30pm to 6pm as an informal drop-in session for parents, staff and the community to ask any question

It is essential that we gather as many views and opinions as possible, and answer any questions as part of the consultation process.

We understand that some staff, parents, carers and other members of the community may not be able to attend the meetings so we have added some links below for anyone to view a Consultation leaflet and a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ (FAQ) document which provides information about some of the questions you may have.  We have also provided a link below for respondents to provide feedback via an online form.

We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your feedback.
